Auron Action Figurine Sep 23, 2007
By Laura Havash

The Auron figurine from Final Fantasy X is an extremely detailed, durable figure. It has several options for customization based on events in the game, for example allowing Aurons arm to hang free of the kimono or a built in piece thats included to fold Aurons arm into the kimono with the sleeve hanging free, as he is often seen in the game. The detail of his outfit is spectacular, including a hanging sake jug, numerous flexible straps, tassels, and ribbons all of which are brightly colored. The leg articulation is limited but has to remain solid for him to stand. The sword is loose so it can be arranged how you wish him to hold it, or not at all. He has fairly reasonable arm movement and also included head articulation which is surprisingly decent. The figurine comes with extra hand position pieces and a doll stand. All in all, a very satisfyingly accurate figurine for a collector.

Excellent Looking but Fragile Sep 11, 2007
By David Miller This is an excellent replica, great for collectors, but keep it in the box! Both the right knee joint and left elbow joint appear to be weak. Regardless, ABCTOY4me has been great to deal with and I would not hesitate to do business with them again!

4 star sculpt...2 star durability. Apr 20, 2012
By Armando N. Roman Now that I'm getting into the Play Arts figures, thanks to Red XIII, I went and picked up Auron since he was one of my 3 favorite characters from Final Fantasy X, and the coolest of the 3 figures they made from the game. While the figure came out a few years ago, he's not that hard to get for a decent price, but there's a very good reason for that, which I'll get to in a minute. Basically when it comes to Auron collectibles, you don't have many options. There's this figure, the 1/6 scale Kotobukiya statue and...tiny bottle cap figures and keychains. That's about it. The 1/6 scale statue looked great, but had very limited articulation, and now goes for an insanely high amount of money (oh how I wish I'd bought it the one time I saw it in a store for the original price). This smaller figure, to me, looks better than the statue but has some very big problems that keep it from being a real must-have.
First, the good: this is a fantastic sculpt of the legendary guardian. The face is dead-on, his outfit looks fantastic, and most of the details on his robe are there- from the beads to the little ring thingies. For one of the first Play Arts figures that was released, I'm impressed. Auron really does look better when you've got him right in front of you than he does in the stock pictures. The articulation for Auron's standard look is good too. You can move his head around, right shoulder, right elbow, right wrist, waist (right above the belt), upper legs, knees, ankles and feet. Out of the box, Auron comes in his signature look with his left arm tucked in his kimono. This arm has no articulation and can't be moved at all because it's a sculpted piece that can be removed to switch out with a 'normal' left arm and the sleeve off his shoulder. I love this feature [on paper] since it gives another display option for the figure. In addition to the left arm and sleeve attachment is Auron's sword. The sword looks perfect and fits perfectly in his hand. It's also worth mentioning that the bottom part of his kimono is made of a soft, rubbery plastic that makes bending the legs much easier. Great design choice!
So while he might look good, the problems kick in as soon as you try to work that tucked left hand out of the body. I've read enough horror stories from other people who own the figure, and it seems like everyone's broken this piece. I've tried to remove the tucked arm many times since removing Auron from the box, and it's tighter than a nun. There were even instructions included in the box that tell you how to remove and insert the pieces, but they don't help much, especially when it's mentioned that if the fit is too tight that you could break something. I haven't had any success in changing the arms, and at this rate, I think I'm better off not doing so. As cool as Auron would look with his left arm out, ready to bring the pain, I don't feel like being yet another person with a busted Auron. Also, it seems like the right arm on my figure has a little problem with the shoulder joint, not being able to swing the arm outward. The joint actually moves up and down, appearing to be loose, and the part that should be moving the arm out won't budge. Ugh.
On top of these problems, the handle on the sword breaks off VERY easily. How easily? Well, it lasted for all of 10 minutes once I took it out of the plastic tray. How's that sound? Fortunately it's nothing that some good glue can't fix, but come on! It would seem that SOMETHING has to break on this figure for everyone. If it's not the arm, it's either the sword or glasses.
Minor nitpicks of mine (which aren't big since this -was- one of the first Play Arts figures and quality has since gotten better) are that his glasses aren't accurate to how they were in the game, and two key features on the head are missing. One being Auron's ponytail and the other being his stubble. The glasses thing is understandable given the small size, but it would've been nice for them to add that extra detail of stubble around his mouth and cheeks, and given him his ponytail. Oh, and some different colors on his hair would've been great too, with white streaks here and there. But again, these are just minor things that I notice. Overall, the figure looks incredible on my shelf and I'm glad I have it.
If you collect the Play Arts figures, Auron is a solid addition, but be very cautious when handling him. It just sucks that the figure is so fragile. Everyone who's pointed out something breaking isn't over exaggerating. He really does break that easily! As long as you don't overpay, you should be happy with the figure. I can't help but wonder how much better he'd be if they had waited until now to make him though. Auron getting the same treatment as the Metal Gear Solid figures? Good god!

Could break Feb 11, 2007
By A. S. ALHASSAN The joints of right arm and leg broke while I was gently trying to give it a fighting stance. Otherwise, it is a great replica of everyone's favorite: Auron from Final Fantasy X.
