Those of us who are as obsessed with Indiana Jones as we are Star Wars fanatics have waited a LONG time for a well populated Indy action figure line covering all of Dr. Jones' amazing exploits! And now, we finally have it! These 3 3/4 inch figures from Hasbro are just too cool! Granted, some may be more impressive than others, but the first three I chose from the ranks were all excellent!
This new line of Indiana Jones figures was introduced at the time of the new film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", and the first releases only covered that film and Raiders of the Lost Ark. As much as I wanted those figures, I held off. In general, action figures of this size seem to be way overpriced at the usual 7-8 bucks in retail stores, and I really wanted to be inspired by seeing some characters who have never been action figures before added to the line (yeah, back in the '80's there were some Raiders figures from Kenner, but that line never continued, and Disney theme parks carry their own Raiders-based line that was an improvement, but nothing compared to these). Well, early this week it finally happened. I found the figures reduced a few bucks at my local retailers and the Last Crusade characters added to the bunch! Right away, I snatched up the three I had wanted the most, Young Indiana Jones, Dr. Henry Jones (Indy's dad), and Indiana (choosing the one from Crystal Skull with full Indy gear on and holding the skull). Of course, this review is just about Indy's dad.
Highly detailed, this figure sports a great likeness to actor Sean Connery. His hat is removable, and he comes with a German pistol, the grail diary, and his briefcase with attached umbrella. Henry Sr. also wears a pair of glasses that might be removable, but I dare not find out. What I noticed is that one side is definitely unattached, but the other side seems to be attached. No idea what that's about, but I just leave them on anyway. You can slide them up and down a bit with your thumb to see his eyes, without them, but I don't know if this is a bad thing to do or not. The figure is well jointed at the knees, elbows, hips, shoulder and head. Wish they'd come out with a motorcycle and sidecar for him and Indy to ride on! Also, like all the figures, he comes with a paper crate in which you can find a secret Indy artifact (no secret really, Henry comes with the grail, though these aren't the ones to scale with these figures and would probably better suit 6 inch figures; I think the Grail Knight action figure comes with the grail that is the right scale). The crate also contains a sticker to save in case you want to redeem 6 of them (and the price of a figure) for the mail away 3 3/4 figure of one of the aliens from Crystal Skull and his throne. I'm hoping to do that myself when I land three more. All in all, an excellent purchase for the Indiana Jones fanatic! Highly recommended, but don't pay any of the ridiculous prices you might see online.

I've been reviewing quite a few of these Indiana Jones figures because my husband and I purchased a ton of them for my 8 year olds birthday. (Yeah, apparently we have money to burn. But he didn't want anything else.)
Overall, they are about the size of Polly Pockets. But that's where the comparison with the girl-toys ends. These figures are a lot more intricate. Their clothes are more detailed as are their expressions. For example, with Henry here you'll find that his hat comes off and underneath he's balding.
And over his vest which is 3-dimensional there's a jacket/over-vest that feels like it would come off -- though I'd never suggest such a thing to my son as I don't believe you could ever get it back on.
Now... as to advising other parents and purchasers.
First, if you are an adult collector... have at. This figure is fun.
HOWEVER, for you moms, dads, aunties and Et-ceteras::: This figure comes with very small items such as Henry's hat and glasses, grail cup (non poisonous :) and briefcase and umbrella. Almost all of which is a choking hazard. All of which can be easily lost. These figures are fun, but we've found that they aren't as sturdy as similar sized girl toys. Indie's foot, for example, broke right out of the box, and my husband was taking him out.
So I'd say, you'd best judge this toy by how your child plays. If he's really a rough player, then you might do better with the bigger versions, or even the Lego Indie sets.

We haven't opened ours yet, as it will be a Christmas present, but I felt compelled to give a review because of the negativity of the last review. If you don't want to pay the 23 bucks (outrageous!) for this figure, KEEP LOOKING! I found mine tonight on the Walmart toy shelf, happened to be in the right place at the right time. It was the only Henry Jones out of probably 40-50 Indiana Jones action figures.
Really want it, and don't want to pay inflated prices? Have a little patience, and good shopping sense!!

At last fans of Indiana Jones now have a line of action figures to add to their collections. DR. HENRY JONES, SR. was portrayed by Sean Connery in INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. One of the best parts of this line of figures is the resemblance to their real-life counterparts; facially this figure looks as close to Sean Connery in the movie that you're going to get for a mass-produced toy. The figure is really articulated with joints at the knees, hips, elbows, shoulder. The head is movable too, but the ball joint isn't as flexible as the other parts and leaves Dr. Jones the elder looking down most of the time. Accessories include a grail diary, suitcase, umbrella, glasses, hat, a Luger, and inside the top-secret crate is a miniature Holy Grail. The glasses and hat are both attached to the figure, but are removable. The painting of the figure is so well done, that the joints on the legs are not even noticeable. Overall, this is an excellent action figure. Highly recommended for an Indiana Jones fan or action figure collector.

How can you charge this kind of a price for an action figure that has just come out. This is absolutely ridiculous. I hate scalpers with a passion. They are ruining my enjoyment of trying to collect these great figures. I am just about to completely give up. I will probably never be able to track this figure down at a store anywhere. 1). Because my area is literally sitting on a bazillion of the first two waves of these figures that they probably will never be ordered. 2). Of course scalpers will want the Henry Jones figure the most ( that is obvious due to the price for him shown here ) and he is probably packed 1 per case if not less. Thanks Hasbro. Hasbro just feeds the scalpers need. Enough is enough already. Let the younger kids enjoy these toys first before anyone else and then let the collectors who want to collect these fun toys as a hobby get them second. But no, we have to be greedy and suck the ones trying to have fun dry.
Absolute garbage.
