Those of us who are as obsessed with Indiana Jones as we are Star Wars fanatics have waited a LONG time for a well populated Indy action figure line covering all of Dr. Jones' amazing exploits! And now, we finally have it! These 3 3/4 inch figures from Hasbro are just too cool! Granted, some may be more impressive than others, but the first three I chose from the ranks were all excellent!
This new line of Indiana Jones figures was introduced at the time of the new film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", and the first releases only covered that film and Raiders of the Lost Ark. As much as I wanted those figures, I held off. In general, action figures of this size seem to be way overpriced at the usual 7-8 bucks in retail stores, and I really wanted to be inspired by seeing some characters who have never been action figures before added to the line (yeah, back in the '80's there were some Raiders figures from Kenner, but that line never continued, and Disney theme parks carry their own Raiders-based line that was an improvement, but nothing compared to these). Well, early this week it finally happened. I found the figures reduced a few bucks at my local retailers and the Last Crusade characters added to the bunch! Right away, I snatched up the three I had wanted the most, Young Indiana Jones, Dr. Henry Jones (Indy's dad), and Indiana (choosing the one from Crystal Skull with full Indy gear on and holding the skull). Of course, this review is just about Young Indiana Jones.
Highly detailed, this figure sports a great likeness to the late River Phoenix who portrayed the original Young Indy in the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Young Indy is dressed in his scout uniform and has the Cross of Coronado (permanently) tucked into his belt. He is well jointed at the knees, elbows, hips, shoulders, head, and waist, and comes with a bullwhip in mid lash and a snake. That's right, a snake! Also, like all the figures, he comes with a paper crate in which you can find a secret Indy artifact (no secret really, Young Indiana Jones comes with a spare Cross of Coronado, though these aren't the ones to scale with these figures and would probably better suit 6 inch figures). The crate also contains a sticker to save in case you want to redeem 6 of them (and the price of a figure) for the mail away 3 3/4 figure of one of the aliens from Crystal Skull and his throne. The order form for this is found on the Hasbro website. I'm hoping to do that myself when I land three more. All in all, an excellent purchase for the Indiana Jones fanatic! Highly recommended, but don't pay any of the ridiculous prices you might see online.

This is a great Indiana Jones actions figure. In the Last Crusade we get to see a glimpse of Indy as a teenager which is what this figure is from. It even comes with his trademark whip! He's partly articulated so you can pose it.

This action figure features the young Indy from INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. The figure is very detailed and has quite a bit movement with joints at the knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, neck, and head. Accessories include a bullwhip, a snake, and an extra Cross of Coronado (inside the top secret crate). Besides being an Indiana Jones action figure, the best thing about this figure is the attention to facial detail. Young Indy in the movie was played by the late River Phoenix and this figure looks just like him: the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and lips are as close to an exact duplicate as a mass-produced action figure can get. This is a great item for fans of Indiana Jones or collectors of Indiana Jones memorabilia. I'd also recommend it for those who are fans of the late River Phoenix.
