Be the bell of the nerd ball! Sep 18, 2010

Ever since you saw the first Star Wars movie there was one thing for sure: You wanted a lightsaber. But the toys available sucked so you got a flash light and dreamed. So 33 years later here it is. The removable blade is great because it'll be way less obtrusive when you wear it on your belt to work. (comes with a belt hook though I've not tried it) and assembles into the bladed version for dueling Sith. I do wish the blade snapped in a bit easier (it's a multi step process that involves unscrewing and screwing things back in.) but if that's the price you pay for a stable removable blade, then so be it.
The blade looks really good, especially in dim rooms. The fact that it "ignites" starting from the base and going up is double good. Just like the real (real?) thing. The accompanying sound seals the deal. I unboxed this in the office of a computer game company and I'm sure people wet themselves when they first picked it up and turned it on.
It's fairly comfortable to hold, unlike the Darth Vader version. What's up with that? Darth must have some slots in his robotic hands that help him grip it because that thing is not easy to hold. It's much bigger than you think it would be and it's fairly heavy which helps make you feel like you're holding something that could cut a guys hand off in a bar dispute.
The sound is decent, but not great. My wife thinks the lightsaber iPhone app sounds better and while it's quieter I'm not sure it does. The iPhone does react better to motion than this toy though. Moving it around doesn't seem to produce the vrrrrrmmm you expect and it seems a little more random. Not bad though. The blade clash sound is good and does trigger well.
Speaking of, it does take a fair amount of lightsaber dueling and seems not worse for wear. I wouldn't really whack these things together, but while I was on my knees telling my boss he wasn't my father, it seemed pretty durable. I'm sure glad he didn't cut my hand off, as we're on a pretty tight deadline. That twisted and evil guy!
So yeah. You're in your 40s or older and you'll feel silly buying one of these. Suck it up and do it. Buy two so you have a Sith version as well. You won't feel any cooler but you will be the envy of everyone whether they admit it or not. On the box it clearly says, "adult collectible." Prove them wrong.

FX Lightsaber Aug 28, 2010
By M. Hinrichs This is definatly something worth getting if youre a Star Wars fan expecally an Obi-Wan Kenobi fan as i am of both. It looks great, sounds great, the blade is removable and has a malfunction sound when the blade is not attached and comes with a replacement part to make it look like the lightsaber with out its blade and a clip to hold the lightsaber on your belt. There is also a strong white o-ring in the end around the blade which can make it hard to remove but also keeps it secure and so no dust or anything can get inside the saber itself. Obviously not really educational as it is but an awesome collectible for Star Wars fans, preferable of a certain age being this is no toy.

Obi Wan fulfilled my every hope Nov 14, 2010
By Seumas F. Gagne I bought this along with all of the other models of Force FX lightsabers with removable blades. The Obi Wan model is relatively light due to more of the components being resin than metal, but it is very sturdy. Each model has a different method of removing the blade and the Obi Wan is the best combination of ease and stability. When the blade is on, it's on and doesn't wiggle at all when swung and lightly struck against another blade. Taking it off is as simple as unscrewing the top housing and sliding it off. The sounds and light effects are so thrilling that you should budget a couple of hours for turning it on and off on the day you get it. Battery is also excellent. At least 10 hours out of one set of three AAA batteries.

I LOVE THIS THING! Oct 20, 2010

I am a force FX fan, I have two other sabers. I love the feel of this saber, it has an great hilt for tricks and such. The sound card is AMAZING, way better than ANY of the previous force fx sabers. It sounds more aggressive and the ignition sound is like music to my ears. I am very happy that they finally made one with a removable blade! I can now use it for my jedi costume. This Halloween is going to rock. The only gripe I have about the saber is that the part that is supposed to be shiney gold and copper, is flat bronze and brown but thats nothing a little paint can't fix. I highly recommend this saber.

Must-have Nov 16, 2010
By Michael DeBlasio If you're an absolute Star Wars dork like me, you gotta get one of these. It's incredibly awesome for the first week, pretty sweet the second week, and still maintaining it's cool-ness in the third week. But by the fourth week of owning it, you realize you're 25 yrs old and you spent $150 on a toy that will most definitely NOT get you laid.
As I said, if you're a super nerd like me, then this thing is pretty sweet. But it will lose its appeal after a few weeks. Well, it should anyway. After all, you can only swing it around in your dark bedroom so many times before you realize your life is sad. (that last statement works on so many levels)
Haha. Mike
