The only exclusive thing is the monster Sep 24, 2009
By Rolando F. Mocan Quan I got this Battle Pack in order to get a second skiff and the Sarlacc Pit for my collection.
What you get is a big box with basically a lot of repackaged figures (including the skiff vehicle) and a new, exclusive desert section with Sarlacc, so you can re-enact the battle scene above the Sarlacc
THE FIGURES: The figures themselves are repaints or just repackages of previously released figures of Jedi Luke, Lando, Han, Boba Fett and a skiff guard, so I won't comment on them. The only thing to note here is that some figures lack the quality of the original releases, being badly painted (Luke's got crossed eyes) or cast in a lower quality material (plastic is rubbery and different color form the original figure)
THE VEHICLE: Basically, the most value of this pack is the skiff. It hasn't been released alone lately, but the older versions can still be found at several stores including Amazon. Nothing new, if you have seen the original ROTJ version or the later one (POTF2), except that the plastic color will be different and is more rubbery and less prone to breakage. It still has the deployable feet to stand on its own, and an extendable plank on the side (both operated via levers on the pilot's control console). The vanes on the back move with a lever, and another "breaks" the rails and drops the figures down.
THE SARLACC: The Sarlacc and desert section is the only new, exclusive item of the pack. It's composed of several parts: - The desert portion, which is made of a very thin sheet of formed plastic. - The sarlacc, which is a couple of rubber cup-shaped parts comprising the teeth, tentacles and beak. These parts have pegs to align the pieces, but don't fit correctly, as a reviewer posted.
Of note here is that you can display the Sarlacc WITH OR WITHOUT the beak. So, for all "original trilogy purists" who loathe the beaked Sarlacc from the special edition (and onwards), it can be displayed sans beak. This is a nice detail that I actually don't care about.
The desert base and the skiff don't connect in any way, so the desert is not really a base. You can either display everything in the box or try to stand the skiff on the thin plastic "desert" using the skiff's legs.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Most of the figures I gave to a friend for free. New collectors that don't already own the figures may find them appealing, but they are not realized well. Older collectors who already own these figures will find them worthless. And the Sarlacc... well, mine's been laying on the floor of my "showroom" since I opened it, collecting dust and awaiting for me to build and display the scene. I like the Sarlacc monster itself, but the sand piece's only value is that it complements the Sarlacc (you can't display the Sarlacc by itself).
I suggest to go for the POTF2 Skiff Star Wars Power of the Force Tatooine Skiff with Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker Action Figure. It includes Luke, and costs almost half the money (if you count shipping costs). The rest of the figures have been released individually or as part of other packs, and are fairly easy to get too.

Cheaply made Feb 13, 2009
By R. Johnston The $55 price tag on this toy is way too much. The toy, while a great concept, is not made well. The monster in the sand comes apart way too easily and does not connect to the sand as it was meant to. While my 5 year son loves the toy, he is often frustrated by it because it falls apart and the light sabers do not stay in the hands of the figures. We have to rubber band them on.

Extremely cheap workmanship Dec 25, 2009
By no name This set was made in a ridiculously cheap manner. Frankly, I am surprised Hasbro lets anything made like this get stamped with their name. I am returning it to Target to attempt a refund on the 26th. The light saber cannot go into Luke's had without slipping out. Boba Fett's arms are not posable but instead flop around without any resistance. Secondly, the quality of plastic is very poor. We took the figures out of the packaging and the weapons were warped/mishapen where the rubber bands held them to the figures' hands. The moving parts of the skiff have that feel like they are going to break at any moment. We paid [...] for this set on clearance at Target, but this was far, far too much money when taking all this into consideration. Further, it was unbelievable to me that the *original* price for this set was [...] C'mon, Target...this price is clearly not set because of quality, but merely because the box has "Star Wars" stamped on the side. This is the kind of poor workmanship and quality I would expect if this were a knock-off brand...but Hasbro? I'm very disappointed.

Fear the almighty sarlac Apr 29, 2009
By Xenos I've seen this toy in person. It's a bit too pricey, so I didn't buy it myself. Maybe someday if I find it on sale. It is a classic scene. Of course the most hilarious thing that makes this quite a novelty for me is the sarlacc pit itself. It.. well.. it looks like a scary fanged version of.. a certain female body part. I've shown photos to friends and they too were amazed. Poor Boba Fett. What a way to go (in the films at least).
