My first Transformers, Ratchet alive again. Feb 05, 2008

When Ratchet was released I had to have him, since he was the first original G1 Transformers I got. Ratchet looks good in vehicle mode. Just like any early Autobot cars made of hard plastic and rubber wheels. His transformation is similar to Optimus Prime. Half of the car turns into a robot and the other half turn into a battle station. Granted his robot mode looks nothing like the cartoon character with a head.
The Japanese version still has shooting plastic missiles. The only dishonor the storyline did was to kill him off in the movie and then later on send his tomb into the sun in a later episode. Ratchet is one of the original classic Autobot Transformers.

I purchased Ratchet and Ironhide (his red repaint) because I never had a chance to buy them when I was a kid in the 80's. I collect Transformers and although most Transformers are great toys for kids, this figure (and his repaint) are more for the adult collector. If you're a parent and want to buy your child an Ratchet figure, buy the Movie or Transformers Universe toys. If you're an adult collector and want to get your nostalgia on, this toys will due the trick. i forgot how small they were!

It's the same great toy the original was back in the '80s, I'm sure there are slight differences from the original (due to new safety laws and similar reaons), but after so many years I can't really tell.
It's a great toy for those who loved it back in the '80s, for those who became fans after that and love the originals, and it's also a great gift for a kid today, so they can get into the Transformers universe.

At first I was a little hesitant on buying this thing, because I was also going to buy Ironhide, and I wasn't sure which one to buy first. I bought Ratchet on a friday, and it came on a Tuesday. It was super fast shipping and I love the toy. I would give it 20 thumbs up if I had them :^)
